Maps of Current Wildfires in the United States

Monday July 5, 2004
The 2004 summer fire season is heating up. The southern Rocky Mountain region including Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico is experiencing extreme drought and wildfire. I've created a page that gives maps and links to current fire data, fire starts and severe drought.

When you work and play in a forest, its critical for you to be fire safe. Sparks from equipment and vehicles like chainsaws, ATVs, and motorcycles can cause fire. Make sure your campfires are dead out and never left unattended. Lanterns, stoves, and barbecues can also start accidental fires and need to be used only in an area cleared of fuels and debris. And remember, fireworks are a major cause of fire.
