Alaska's Forests are Burning Up

Alaska has five of the largest active fires in the Nation. Nearly 2.5 million acres are presently on fire in our most northern state.
Fires Burning are:
The Eagle Complex - 614,154 acres - Unknown acres contained
The Solstice Complex - 547,351 acres - 5% acres contained
The Boundry Complex - 473,300 acres - 18% acres contained
The Taylor Complex - 440,611 acres - Unknown acres contained
The Chicken Complex - 389,937 acres - 0% acres contained
So far, the 2004 U.S. fire season has had the largest number of wildfires and acres consumed since the wildfire disaster of 2000. This season may be shaping up to be the worst season ever. Already 43 thousand fires have started with several months left in the season.
