Match the Leaf with the Tree Quiz

Thursday August 20, 2009

I have developed this tree leaf identification quiz based on 30 of the most common native North American hardwoods. See how you do by identifying the tree represented by each of these Charles Sprague Sargent leaf prints. The answer is just a left click away...

For more of a challenge, try taking the quiz without using the tree hints (in bold black) at the top.

Plus: The thrill of identifying trees is enhanced by collecting leaves, mounting them in an exhibit and using them as a field guide. The best time to collect leaves is right now! April through June provides a collector the best leaf samples and with a little extra work, you can find great leaves throughout summer and fall.
