The 2011 Big Tree Register
First founded in 1875, American Forests is the oldest national nonprofit conservation organization in the United States. Since 1940 citizens have helped the organization find the largest of 733 species of trees in the US whose champions are listed on the National Register of Big Trees.
American Forests Magazine compiles the latest National Register of Big and Champion Trees. American Forests make the entire list available here in html list format for 2011.
Every state in the United States also has a champion tree program (often coordinated by your state's forestry division) and all but seven states have national champs on record. Many states provide a listing of their big trees for potential selection to the national register.
