What is a Rotation Period?

Foresters managing forests for economic benefit take their rotation periods very seriously. In fact, they spent most of their professional time establishing stands and measuring them just to establish the optimum condition for a future harvest.

A rotation period is simply the period of time in years from timber stand establishment to the time that  stand is cut.  A lot goes on within this time line to prepare for final harvest. Review my explanation of this rotation period and how it is optimized.
