Summer Forestry Employment for Kids
Dateline 1/13/2000
The USDA Forest Service is offering students the opportunity to work closely with each other as a team of interns. Each team will design and implement conservation education programs for urban and rural youth, ranging in age from 6 to 14 years. Teams are formed to meet the following objectives:
- To reach children through interactive activities on topics, such as natural resources and the environment, and
- To spark an interest in natural resource careers among young people with diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Employment will start on May 30, 2000 through August 11, 2000. After a 1-week orientation in Asheville, NC to Forest Service operations and the conservation education program, the interns will travel to their selected duty stations in either Milwaukee, WI; Asheville, NC; Atlanta, GA; or Huntsville, AL.
A selected intern may be employed until August 25, 2000 to complete a final-accomplishment report documenting the program.
