Welcome to the Forestry Site's
I've noticed that people interested in forestry are also interested in tree identification*. Someone will come into my office with a twig, upsetting the rest of the day; nothing will get done until the identification can be made. I've noticed that foresters, forestry techs, and timber owners can't relax until they solve the mystery. It is fun and addictive!
This is a virtual puzzle to keep your tree ID skills honed. I will give a new clue every two or three days until the mystery tree is identified. The clues will become progressively easier until you either get the correct answer or I have to tell you the name of the tree. You can give either the common or scientific name.
This Tree ID is now on the Forestry Bulletin Board. It is open to all and a new tree is up after every identification. Find the new tree and identify it at forestry.about.com/mpboards.htm
