Location:

Small Western African country, bordering the Bight of Biafra, between Cameroon and Gabon.

The Resource:

All the vegetation of Río Muni is classified as "low- and medium-altitude tropical rainforest"...a "mosaic of wetter and drier types of lowland rainforest" - FAO

Cause of Problem:

Primary rainforest covered 50% of the country and secondary forest 10% in 1959. By 1985, primary coverage had been reduced to 28%, while secondary coverage had fallen to 8%. Deforestation and oil wells are having a negative impact.
