Cibola National Forest and the ghost town of Kelly, New
Mexico
Western juniper and pine of Cibola: This semiarid forest of
juniper and scattered pine is located in western New Mexico near Magdalena, New Mexico.
The last commercial timber harvest in this Cibola National Forest ranger district
occurred in 1976. The ghost town of Kelly thrived in the late 1800's only to be
abandoned in 1946.
