Very old "forked" paulownia (Atlanta
Botanical Gardens, Georgia)
Royal Paulownia (Paulownia Tomentosa): Native of
China. The soft, lightweight, whitish wood of this tree is exported to
Japan for furniture and special uses. The tree was named for Anna
Paulownia of Russia, princess of the Netherlands and ancestor of the present
queen, Juliana.
