A Walk in the Forest
"On Friday, October 15, 1999, be one of the many Society of American Foresters members across the country who will take children, media, lawmakers, neighbors, and others on a walk in the forest. Now in its seventh year, this national SAF program is designed to help members teach the public about the many benefits of forests and how foresters care for the forests. In addition, by conducting a Walk in the Forest, SAF members can show the public that foresters share their love and respect for nature and the environment.
The goal is to have as many SAF members and local units as possible across the country conducting walks on October 15."
James E. Coufal, SAF President

If you are a forester, this is a reminder that you can do something for your community by giving a little of yourself. The Society of American Foresters has a kit to help you plan your "walk in the forest" event. It is time that we foresters help the public understand that foresters are professionals who understand trees, forests, and natural resources.
If you love the forest, this is your chance to have a forester walk you or your group through the woods. The Society of American Foresters will be hosting tours of forests throughout the United States.
Find out if your area has a "Walk". You might request that your local SAF Chapter sponsor one for your group or classroom. It is time to make your local forester society do some explaining!
Contact Jennifer Plyler at 301-897-8720 or plylerj@safnet.org with questions about the program. She can get you in touch with your local SAF chapter.
