Habitat:  found at high elevations on mountain ranges that continue in active formation.

escription:   Red fir (Abies magnifica) dominates large areas of high country that are a major source of water, especially in California. For this reason it has long been an important forest tree.

Uses:  Lumber, plywood, pulp for paper, framing, sheathing, subflooring, concrete forms, decking, planking, beams, posts, siding, paneling, millwork, prefabricated buildings and structural members, industrial crating and shook, furniture parts, mobile homes
