Needles With Pegs

Does your tree have needles that are 4-sided or diamond shaped in cross section are attached to the twig with wooden pegs (sterigmata) and are whorled around the branch? If so you probably have a spruce! The Major Spruces

Needles With Suction Cups

Does your tree have needles that are are attached to the twig with suction cups (no pegs or stalks) and two-ranked along the branch? If so you probably have a fir! The Major Firs
