Prescribed Fire - A Photo Feature

Property Background

This 475 acre central Alabama upper coastal plain property was comprised of a series of abandoned fields in 1953. Under the old federal Soil Bank Program, slash pine from a state nursery was planted on most of these fields. The 40+ year old trees are now in extremely good health, many are of pole quality and exceeding 100 feet in total height.

These Soil Bank trees are still controlled by the original owner who has avoided the temptation to make a final harvest.  The basal area stocking averages 90 square feet per acre and the trees make up some of the finest timber growing in Alabama.
