Steve Nix is a professional forester who now works for forest and tree owning clients as a private forestry consultant.

Experience:

Steve has previously worked for a private forestry consulting company and with public organizations. He has researched, analyzed and written about forest resources in the southern United States for over three decades. His articles and collection of data have appeared or been quoted in numerous newspapers, forestry publications and U.S. Forest Service technical reports. Steve retired from the Alabama Forestry Commission with 26 years of public service and has been the forestry guide for About.com since 1997.

Education:

Steve is a registered forester in Alabama and a continuing member of the Society of American Foresters (SAF). Steve has an associate's degree in science from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and a bachelor of science degree in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia's School of Forest Resources.
