The Quail Hunt - Safety First

Your Guide with Gun and Dog

Your Guide with Gun and Dog

Steve Nix/About Forestry
Hunting bobwhite quail is a relatively safe sport if you abide by a very few basic hunting safety rules:

1. Treat all guns as loaded.
2. Don't point your muzzle at anything you're not willing to shoot.
3. Never place your finger near the trigger until you've sighted the target. Always keep the "safety" on until just before firing.
4. Be certain of your target and what's around it -- behind it, beside it and under it.
5. Always wear a hunter orange hat and vest.
