Walnut juice leaves a dark stain on hands, so if you are concerned about this, wear gloves or use tongs when handling newly unhusked and husked walnuts.

Put the husked nuts in a bucket and spray them forcefully with a garden hose to remove the husk residue. Then allow them to dry in the sun at a location which is not accessible to preditors.
