One of the most amazing places to visit in fall is an Oak-gum-cypress Forest Type in the southern United States. These "swamps" can occur as far north as New Jersey and as far west as the Mississippi Valley up to southern Illinois.
The bold bronze color of baldcypress (one of the only conifers that drop their needles every autumn) blends with the beautiful red and purples of blackgum and yellowish green and orange of sweetgum. You can actually visit a swamp for excellent fall colors.
