This photo taken at Keahua Arboretum, Kauai, Hawaii is a display of the colorful bark of rainbow eucalyptus (Eucalyptus deglupta). When the bark slowly peels off layer by layer, the bright green surface found inside the tree gradually turns blue, then purple and finally brick red as it is exposed to air over time. This rainbow of colors is dramatic but caused by exposed inner-bark in the aging process.
