Welcome to the Forestry Site!  If you own or expect to inherit forestland, manage the forestland of others, or are otherwise interested in forestry -- this is the place to be.

I'm  your host, Steve Nix. My vocation is researching and analyzing the southern forest resource.  I have practiced both private consulting forestry and public forestry since 1972.  I am a registered forester in Alabama and a forestry graduate from the University of Georgia's School of Forest Resources.

Too many people who own "The American Forest" are lacking in basic forestry skills. Even though forestry information is easy to get, this same information can be very hard to connect to paint the broad management picture.  I will make available valuable sources of information on forestry... and we will connect this information to paint your forest landscape. This site should not be used as a substitute for seeking out a forester but to compliment his and your knowledge.

Let me be your personal researcher for forestry information and data on the Internet;  let's get you information to hone your forest management skills, raise your environmental awareness, give you regional information, and just plain make you feel good about forestry.  Let's go to the woods!
