Habitat:  common along streams and the edges of swamps and bays.

Description:  It is one of the two southern pines used for naval stores and one of the
most frequently planted timber species in North America.

Uses:  The wood is used for heavy construction (bridges, trestles and dock works), pulp, plywood, utility poles, piling, railroad ties, mine timbers. The sap is used for rosin and turpentine.
