From the article: National Forests in the United States
There are 155 United States National Forests in 41 states. Millions of visitors play in these forests every year and the National Forest, under the supervision of USDA - Forest Service encourages visits to all your forests. You own them and should be excited that they are being managed for your pleasure. Part of each dollar of income from timber sales and recreation fees are sent back to the local community school systems who are in and near each forest.

I love a couple
- I agree with Joseph who posted about the Huron-Manistee National Forest, I live in Michigan, it's one of my favorites I frequent every summer. There is always something new when I go, it's very relaxing, the fish and wildlife are grand, and best of all no people for miles. But I also have another favorite. That is Mt. Rainer in Washington state. The lush green canopy of trees, OMG, to die for. I've been there 4 times and would love to go back. Though I hear Washington rains a lot, It's a gardeners dream state. The seasons are mild all year, everything is coated in lush green, you have mountains, giant trees, fish, wildlife, gardens to die for. Packin' my bags now....

favorite
- Huron National Forest in the lower peninsula of Michigan. It has areas just for the survival of Kirtland's Warbler. Also you can find spots that are secluded enough that you will not see people for days. These areas are also where you might see bobcat and bears. There are plenty of sign you can see.

Sherwood Forest
- I know its not in the states! I am in England, So I say the Sherwood Forest is my favourite. I live close to it and I love the history of the woods and its connection with the legend Robin Hood. Also its very famous for its huge Oak tree which is thought to be over 800 years old. Its been voted as“Britain’s favourite tree”.

Jolene Loves Roosevelt National Forest
- My favorite is the Roosevelt National Forest just West of Estes Park, Colorado. We went there when I turned 40 in July, 1997 with the whole family, and saw herds of elk, mountain goats, various large birds (eagles), little groundhogs and chipmunks that we were not supposed to feed... haha... along with absolutely gorgeous sites and scents of the forest. Went horseback riding and also drove up and down the road to Pikes Peak with bare white knuckles! Got to the top and we were in a blizzard!!! (Remember this was July.) We all loved our time there :) Can't wait to go back!

Shawnee National Forest
- I love Shawnee National Forest, located in southern Illinois, because it's so different from the rest of the state. I'm from the Chicago area and going down to Shawnee is like going to a completely different part of the country. Garden of the Gods (situated within the forest) is just beautiful.
