The Bottom Line
I am completely impressed by MAPTECH Terrain Navigator Pro. Pro is an improvement over an already great Terrain Navigator package. The one year subscription to Maptech website gives you access to digital Orthophoto Quads (DOQQs). Pro has remained simple but adds more power and 30 new features (including GeoPin organization) to impress even the expert map user. I used tech support several times and they were outstanding!
Pros
- USGS topo maps on CD-ROM with full 1:24,000 and 1:100,000 scales.
- Aerial photos (Digital Orthophoto) to 1 meter included.
- Even better on-screen 3D map viewing than the original.
Cons
- A tad expensive if trying to buy large coverage areas.

Guide Review - MAPTECH Terrain Navigator Pro
As with Navigator, I again agreed to review this product with one caveat - I would need to put a package together that represented a familiar working area. They again agreed.
My new HP Pavilion laptop with a 1.05 MHz and 192 MB RAM handled the installation to perfection. The computer never bogged down with the loads of data that had to be processed. Terrain Navigator Pro Requirements are: Windows 98, 2000, ME, NT or XP or better; Pentium-class CPU; a CD-ROM; at least 32 MB of RAM; a 256 color display.
