WAAS to Waypoints

By Steve Nix, About.com

Definition:
WAAS: Wide Area Augmentation System is a FAA funded system of equipment and software that augments GPS. The WAAS provides a satellite signal for WAAS users to support enroute and precision approach aircraft navigation.

Waypoints: Locations recorded and stored in your GPS for the purpose of later return. Waypoints can be labeled and stored in the unit manually or more usually, waypoints can be entered directly by taking a reading with the receiver at the location itself, giving it a name, and then saving the point.
